Walking tour: Brixham breakwater to Berry Head peninsula
This unique tour hugs one of the most diverse and spectacular coastlines in South Devon in addition to it being a UNESCO GEO Park. We start by walking the 1/2 mile of the breakwater out into Torbay and stop at various points to understand about the great storm of 1866 and how it helped shape Brixham, the heroes and heroin's of that dreadful night and the emergence of Brixham as a world renown fishing port. Continuing on the coastal path we will view the iconic Shoalstone Pool one of the few remaining sea water lido's still in the UK and pass the house where a famous hymn (traditionally sung at the FA Cup Final). Up through the woods, listen out for the wood peckers and then enter the Napoleonic fortress which is a plethora of heritage, wildlfe commerce and not to mention a unique lighthouse.
