Free time.Set off to discover Chichén Itzá, one of the 7 new wonders of the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The ancient city is the most famous and best preserved archaeological site in Mexico. There are many highlights to see on a walking tour of this ancient archaeological site, including the imposing Kukulkan pyramid, the huge ball field and the "El Caracol" observatory.Next stop, Cenote. Cenotes or sinkholes are the most beautiful jewels of the Yucatan peninsula. Swimming in a cenote is a must when holidaying in the region. The cool, clear waters will leave you feeling refreshed and revitalised.You will arrive in Merida, known as the Ciudad Blanca (White City) in the late afternoon. The capital of the state of Yucatan was founded by the Spaniards in 1542 on the remains of an ancient Mayan city. Merida is a beautiful city with museums, churches, restaurants and exquisite cuisine. Once you arrive, it's time to roam the mangroves in search of crocodiles and flamingos in their natural habitat. November to March tends to be the best time of year to see flamingos in huge concentrations, but they are generally resident all year roundOvernight stay at the Mision Campeche hotel or equivalent.DAY 4 : CAMPECHE - PALENQUEBreakfast at the hotel.In the morning, you will visit the Fort of Campeche which includes a museum with interesting Mayan pieces. Next, set off to Palenque. On the way, you'll make a quick stop at a cenote in Campeche for a refreshing swim and lunch. Later in the afternoon you will arrive in Palenque, in the state of Chiapas. Overnight stay at the Mision Palenque hotel or equivalent.DAY 5: PALENQUE - CASCADES - PALENQUEBreakfast at the hotel.After breakfast, you will visit the archaeological site of Palenque. Surrounded by lush jungle, the Mayan temples of Palenque are among the most impressive examples of Mayan architecture in all of Mexico. It is believed that 90% of the ancient site is still hidden in the jungle. The excavated areas are beautiful. Make sure to marvel at the many wonders during your walking tour. You will also visit the on-site museum to discover many of the artefacts discovered when the site was excavated.Chiapas has breathtaking waterfalls. Also known as the Seven Color Lagoon, at least seven shades of blue and turquoise make this freshwater lagoon totally unique. You will take a boat ride on the lake's clear waters. After lunch, you will set off for Tulum. One of the most iconic and photographed places in the region, this Mayan walled city is perched on high cliffs that teeter over the ocean, offering incredible views.
