Over a decade ago I stumbled across Falsa blankets in a market down some back street in the outskirts of Mexico City. I could not resist buying four of these beautiful blankets I have now learned are actually called Mexican Falsa Blankets. There is a real quality to them. While not particularly heavy, they are robust and well made. Despite the difficulty in stuffing three of them into my single suitcase, and having to nonchalantly wear one the entire flight home, I have no regrets. Several houses (and two continents) later, and having taken a severe beating along the way from kids, beaches, dogs, wet grass, red wine, and mayonnaise I can personally attest to their rugged durability. They are gorgeous too. Enough of the \'ethnic\' to prove you do occasionally venture out, but stylish enough to be cool just about anywhere. These traditional hand loomed Mexican falsa blankets are available in a variety of colours. These wonderful, functional craft items are used for a variety of purposes: a simple cosy blanket, a yoga or meditation mat, or as a colourful throw or rug. Falsa Blankets are made from a comfortable and durable recycled cotton and acrylic yarn that is produced from reclaimed t-shirts, sweaters and material offcuts which could otherwise end up in landfill.
