The R9100 Dura Ace Carbon Laminate wheelset from Shimano designed to meet pro road race criteria. The R9100 wheelset features a bonded carbon and alloy 24mm deep rim. Low weight is achieved by reducing the thickness of the alloy wall from 1.3mm to 0.7mm before being bonded with carbon using a patented phosphoric acid anodizing process giving excellent strength to weight ratio. The wheelset is laced with straight pull spokes 16 on the front wheel and 20 on the rear laced onto Dura Ace hubs. The hubs are made from cold forged aluminum with a 7075-aluminium axle. The rear wheel has a 3mm asymmetric rear rim and wider rear hub flange spacing for stiffness. The titanium free hub has quick 10-degree engagement. The Dura Ace hubs use integrated steel Borazon treated bearings with a super mirror finish that reduces friction. The bearings use digital click adjustment for easy maintenance.
