This is a course for people who have failed to get to grips with poetry in the past. Maybe they have had a bad experience at school, or find the subject daunting. I will be taking a step by step approach so that we get to understand the \"mechanics\" of a poem and gain confidence in looking at it critically. We will then examine ten poems in detail, so we can put theory into practice. The selected poems have been chosen from a wide background so as to cover a large spread of history and styles.
