Applying \'The Hero\'s Journey\' to fiction writing.
This course will teach anyone interested in fiction writing how to apply The Hero\'s Journey to their stories. This structure is used in most if not all books and films globally and is a great structure to have a basic knowledge of. The Hero\'s Journey takes the traditional concept of a beginning, middle and end, and adds individual stages instead. This is useful for both new writers and those who have been honing their craft for years. There are twelve steps to The Hero\'s Journey: Ordinary World, Call to Adventure, Refusal, Meeting with the Mentor, Crossing the Threshold, Tests, Allies and Enemies, Approach to the Innermost Cave, Ordeal, Reward, The Road Back, Resurrection and Return With the Elixir. I personally propose that each of the four consecutive stages identify a more detailed version of the beginning, middle and end in traditional story structure; so the beginning would end with Meeting the Mentor, the middle would end with the Ordeal, and the end would finish with the Return With the Elixir. Within this course we will go through each of the stages, drafting a basic plot as we go along. By the end of the course you will have an outline of a full story which you can then work on independently.
