An anonymous work in which the author examines the history and current state of religious, military and other bodies in France, and urges reform to their structure and composition. The edges of the cloth-and-paper bound cover are bumped, and the cover has a few small marks. Date of binding not known. The title page and endpapers are tanned, again with a few small marks. The top page edges are slightly soiled, but the pages are otherwise in very good condition, apart from 2 or 3, towards the end, that show slight signs of water damage. A signature and stamp  with the words Rouen 1777 appear at the bottom of page 1 of the text.
