Ex-library: The Complete works of Matthew Arnold in 15 volumes, all have blue cloth covers with gilt decoration and titles on the spine and a gilt roundel on the front cover.  Most of the volumes have sunned but attached spines, except volume 1, the spine is detached but still present.  All the corners are lightly bumped and the covers in various stages of grubbiness.  The top page edges are machine cut but the other edges are rough or hand cut.  Internally the books are clean, bright and tightly bound.  These are described as \'Edition de Luxe\' and the volumes are limited editions of 775 copies.  Volume 1 has a tissue protected portrait of Matthew Arnold as frontispiece.  Volume I is Poems, Volume II is also Poems, Volume III is Essays in Criticism, Volume IV is Essays in Criticism 2nd Series, Volume V is Celtic Literature, Volume VI is Culture and Anarchy, Volume VII is Literature and Dogma, Volume VIII is God and the Bible, Volume IX is St Paul and Protestantism, Volume X is Mixed Essays, Volume XI is Irish Essays, Volume XII is French Schools and Universities and Higher Schools and Universities in Germany, Volumes  XIII, XIV and XV are three volumes of Letters (numbered I, II and III).  Published in 1903 by Macmillan.
