What is Paracetamol Suspension?nParacetamol is a quick and easy painkiller that can help to relieve several different aches and pains and relieve a fever. The suspension can be taken by children aged 2 months and over.nWhat type of pain can Paracetamol be used for?nParacetamol can be used to help ease the symptoms of a cold in babies, to relieve a fever and to help ease teething pains. Symptoms of a cold can includenCoughingnSneezingnFevernHeadachenRunny or blocked nosenSore throatnMuscle painsnHow to use paracetamol suspension.nFor oral use only. Shake well for at least ten seconds before use.nDo not give to babies less than 2 months old.nOnly give paracetamol suspension to babies over 4kg.nBabies aged 2-3 months - 2.5ml, followed by another 2.5ml after 4-6 hours if needed. DO NOT GIVE MORE THAN 2 DOSES. If symptoms persist speak to your GP or pharmacistnBabies aged 3-6 months - 2.5ml every 4-6 hours when needed.nBabies aged 6-24 months - 5ml every 4-6 hours when needed.nChildren aged 2-4 years - 7.5ml (5ml + 2.5ml) every 4-6 hours when needed.nChildren aged 4-6 years - 10ml (5ml + 5ml) every 4-6 hours when needed.nDO NOT GIVE MORE THAN 4 DOSES IN A 24 HOUR PERIOD.n nDo not take this product if you are allergic to Paracetamol or have ever had an allergic reaction to it. Do not take this product if you are taking any other medication that contains Paracetamol.n nParacetamol may interact with other medication. For a full list of the interactions please check the patient information leaflet.nAre there any side effects when taking Paracetamol?nThere can be some side effects when taking Paracetamol, however not everyone will get them. These can include:nSkin rashes and itchingnDifficulty breathingnSwollen facenUnusual bruising or bleedingnThroat and mouth ulcersnBleeding gums accompanied by tiredness and flu like symptomsnBlood problems (eg anaemia)nPain in the lower back and/or groinnPancreatitisnHepatitisnChanges in urinenSerious skin reactions (in very rare cases)nIf you experience any of these side effects when taking Paracetamol, please stop using it straight away and contact your GP.nImportant InformationnAs with all medication, please read the patient information leaflet carefully before taking Paracetamol.nStore all medication out of the reach of children.nDo not give this medicine to your child for more than 3 days without speaking to your doctor or pharmacist.nEach 5ml contains 120mg Paracetamol.
