These convenient, ready-made canvases are made from the highest quality 480gsm acid-free, archival-quality cotton cloth on heavy-duty solid pine stretcher bars, which are exceptionally resistant to warping. The stretcher bars are kiln-dried, to better protect against moisture. Available in 12 sizes, from 8 x 10 inches to 36 x 48 inches, to suit the needs of every project. The canvases have a depth of 0.82 inches. The canvases are ready to work straight onto, primed with high-pigment gesso that provides just the right balance between absorbency and tooth. Although they are expertly pre-stretched by hand, every canvas (with the exception of the smallest sizes) in the Professional range comes with four Pro Stretcher Devices™ (see images) to use in each corner. This innovative feature from Winsor and Newton, with breakthrough patent-pending technology, allows greater precision than ever before when it comes to controlling the exact level of tension across your canvas. Each canvas is finished with back stapling. Uncut, folded corners of cloth are left at the back to provide extra material if needed.
