Surma Boy is one in a series of incredible photographic images taken by Mario Gerth on his travels through Africa where he visited many of the indigenous tribes staying with families along the way exploring their rituals, culture and individual personalities. The beautiful image of a young boy carrying a large curved horn with bright yellow flowers seems almost luminous against the dark background. The horn travels across this image like a sculptural ribbon and highlights how naturally rich textures, colours and patterns are a part of everyday tribal life.
