The reduction of size of this model makes it feel more authentic and in line with the sizing trends in the mid-seventies. The original model was made famous by the unique asymmetrical tonneau style case and crown positioned in at 4 o’clock. Both features have been translated on to this reiteration. A green unidirectional bezel sits a top of the case, the knurled edges allow the wearer to easily rotate it. The Dial: This slightly sunburst green dial has a militaristic feel, which may be of particular interest to some due to the watch’s unofficial connection with the Vietnam War. This model has been modernised from the original with a high visibility dial layout. A date window replaces the 3 o’clock marker and the Seiko logo sits proudly beneath the 12 o’clock marker. The Strap: The black silicone strap allows for additional wearer comfort and practicality. It is a material that is often present on dive watches due to its water resistance and durability. It fastens easily using a standard buckle. The Seiko logo is present on the clasp too. The Functions: 6R35 caliber automatic movement powers this timepiece, it also offers hacking and hand winding. Hacking is a function where the second hand stops once the crown is pulled out, allowing for precise timing once the crown is pushed in. The movement allows for a hand winding feature which by turning the crown, gives power to the watch. This 24 jewel movement offers an astounding 70 hour power reserve.
