The Case: The case of the Seiko Prospex \'Captain Willard\' Men\'s Watch SPB153J1 measures in at 42.7mm in width, which is somewhat slimmer than the original model which measured at 44mm. The reduction of size of this model makes it feel more authentic and in line with the sizing trends in the mid-seventies. The original model was made famous by the unique asymmetrical tonneau style case and crown positioned in at 4 o’clock. Both features have been translated on to this reiteration. The brushed stainless steel has been finished with super hard coating, which provides the watch with unparalleled durability and scratch resistance. A green unidirectional bezel sits a top of the case, the knurled edges allow the wearer to easily rotate it. The double domed sapphire crystal glass offers both durability and legibility, as it has been finished with an anti-reflective coating. The Dial: This slightly sunburst green dial has a militaristic feel, which may be of particular interest to some due to the watch’s unofficial connection with the Vietnam War. This model has been modernised from the original with a high visibility dial layout. It is a material that is often present on dive watches due to its water resistance and durability. It fastens easily using a standard buckle. The Seiko logo is present on the clasp too. The Functions: 6R35 caliber automatic movement powers this timepiece, it also offers hacking and hand winding. Hacking is a function where the second hand stops once the crown is pulled out, allowing for precise timing once the crown is pushed in. The movement allows for a hand winding feature which by turning the crown, gives power to the watch. This 24 jewel movement offers an astounding 70 hour power reserve.
