Seiko Prospex Tuna SNE577P1 Black Series Limited Edition Solar Mens Watch, part oThe Black Series 2021 - Seiko Prospex \'Black Series Tuna’ Limited Edition.  There are just 5,000 pieces of this \'Black Series\' design available globally, inspired by the world of night-diving.  Very popular since its inception and now in its third year of limited edition release, Seiko Prospex Black Series was originally inspired by the mysterious world of night diving. The markers’ and lumibrite orange colouring are designed for increased visibility in the dark word of the night sea – orange is the colour of night divers’ lamps, allowing time to be read clearly under dark conditions. The 2021 collection is a trio of Seiko’s signature designs, incorporating a ‘Monster,’ ‘Tuna,’ and ‘Samurai’ – nicknames invented by Seiko fans for their shapes and looks.  This specific watch is named the ‘Tuna’ by Seiko fans – because of its larger diameter and bold shape like a tuna tin - loved for decades since its release.      Solar-powered, the watch charges from natural and electric light.  Prospex is a combination of the words \'Professional\' and \'Specifications.\' Seiko Prospex timepieces are designed to be practical, reliable and durable; to meet the high standards required in extreme environments for sports lovers and adventure seekers alike. The Case: The circular case measures 47mm in diameter and its resemblance to a tuna can is why this watch is affectionally referred to as the ‘Tuna’ by Seiko fans. The case is also comprised of a stainless steel bezel with easy-to-grip edges. These knurled edges of the bezel allow the wearer to utilise the uni-directional rotating bezel easily. The bezel is multi-tonal and is stylised in an understated black and grey colour way.  A screw down crown is present at 4 o’clock on the side of the case, this allows the watch to sit comfortably upon the wrist without the risk of it being knocked out of place. On the front of the case hardlex glass has been applied, providing the wearer with high resistance to scratches and impact. On the back of case there is a stainless steel screw down case back that has been specially engraved signifying that this is watch is a limited edition model of only 5000 pieces . The Dial: The matte black dial imitates the mystical ambience of a nighttime dive. The dial consists of thick, deeply applied hour markers that are presented in patina-style tone, which gives the watch a genuine vintage feel. The dial’s bold handset resembles a samurai’s ‘Katana’ when they overlap one another, which is another reason behind the watch’s nickname. The orange minute hand stands out against the backdrop of the black dial, emulating the bioluminescent light spectacle one may experience when night diving. Orange is also the colour of a night diver’s lamp. The hour markers and handset have been filled with LumiBrite material which allows the wearer to read the dial even in the darkest depth’s of the ocean. The functionality of the dial is underscored by the neat placement of the date window, which is positioned besides the 3 o’clock marker.  The Strap: The black accordion-style strap is made from silicone and it is a style that was first invented by Seiko in 1975, ensuring that their watches remained securely fastened on the wearer’s wrist whatever the ambient pressure. It also offered greater levels of comfort through its ease of use by expanding and contracting when worn diving. The Seiko wave logo also has been pressed into the strap. It fastens securely through the use of a standard silver buckle. The Functions: Seiko’s exclusive 4R35 automatic movement powers this timepiece. It is a self-winding calibre with manual-winding capacity and that has a hacking feature. The 4R35 movement has a 41 hour power reserve and it consists of 23 jewels and it beats at 21,600vph.
