Super Dutch quality but... ... very salty! You need to soak in several changes of fresh water. Unlike other fish, in the case of the herring, it’s the male’s melts - rather than the female’s roes - that are most popular. Nevertheless, herring roes have a few ardent fans. However, the only steady supply we can find is this Dutch product which is heavily salted. So please be aware that you will need to desalt before using. Further, as the salt reduces the temperature at which the fish freezes, your roes will arrive very cold but not hard frozen. But you can keep in your freezer for several months.
